: Revelation 6:12   And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

Now some said that the moon turning to blood is a lunar eclips.  But this can't be because you can't have a lunar and a solar eclips at the same time.

This tells us that something is blocking the sun and moon light at the same time.

The "earthquake"

 Earthquakes are not always sprung on by plate techtonics..  (movement of plates underground)

Earthquakes can be caused by sudden impacts that would literialy shake the surface of the ground.

If anything of a great size hits the surface of the earth, we know it will produce a massive dust cloud.

Now you know why the sun becomes 'black" as sackcloth and the moon becomes as "blood".

John is witnessing something impact the earth.

And the result bloscks out the light of the sun and moon.

Lets review 13 closer

 Revelation 6:13   And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

He says that the stars of heaven fell

 If they "fall" where are they falling to?  THE EARTH

But he hads that they fall as a fig tree casting her untimely figs as if she is shaken of a might wind.

 He is telling us that these stars are falling by 10 and 100's...maybe even thousands

Nevertheless, they all are hitting the earth.

Seeing that John doesn't know what "Nuclear Bombs and ICBM missiles are.  He used his 1st century understanding to record what he saw.

These weapons when launched, are launched from the surface or sea.

They go into the outer atmosphere and re-enter to hit the intended target


When they re-enter, they appear to look like that of "falling stars".

Russia, China, Israel, Turkey, Pakistan, USA, ....and other countries have more than enouph ICBM missiles to spare.

And if they are nuclear warheads....  the next verse makes alot of sense.

 Revelation 6:14   And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

 Any one who looks into it. These are the very effects of a Nuclear blast.

The Mushroom cloud is the literal manifestation of the heavens or sky rolling like a scroll.

 The atmospheric pressure causes this affect

Revelation 6:15   And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

Revelation 6:16   And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

WE have enouph nuclear weapons to destroy the world 100 times over


 Isaiah 24:6   Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. 

The population of mankind will be cut in half

2 Peter 3:7   But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men

 Isaiah 13:9   Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it..

 Isaiah 13:10   For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Isaiah 13:11   And I will punish the world for [their] evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

IN THE NEXT VERSE, GOD TELLS US ABOUT THE POPULATION OF THE EARTH

Isaiah 13:12   I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
